St Abbs and Eyemouth, 2004

A great weekend of diving was had - read all about it.

Following on from UKRS #103, the HMS Scylla trip organised because I'm moving back to Scotland after many years south of the border, comes the northern half of the diving.  As this is to be a celebration of my return to my native lands I don't want to do anything strenuous that will get in the way of the socialising!  I am, therefore, planning an "all comers" weekend of shore diving just north of the border at St Abbs and Eyemouth.

Dates:

3rd and 4th of July 2004.

Diving:

As much or as little of the fantastic shore diving available at these two spots as you fancy.  The maximum depth attainable from shore is about 20m so this is suitable for just about everybody.  I would suggest that all divers be PADI AOW or equivalent and pretty confident in the water.

Recent exploration by Ben Panter has resulted in the discovery of Green Ends Gully, a corking site with much less traffic than the "traditional" ones at St Abbs & Eyemouth - this is an obvious candidate for Saturday 3rd.  Also St Abbs harbour should be a good bet for Sunday 4th although there is so much top class diving in the area that anything is possible.  If  there are any sites that you really *must* do, then let me know.

Accommodation:

Given that it is in July I suggest that we all get the tents and blow-up beds and indulge in some outdoor living for a couple of nights and that we get a big old barbeque going.

The campsite is in Coldingham and, handily enough, is also home to a dive shop and compressor (and a bar and a chippy...).

Cost:

St Abbs Harbour is £10 per day for the parking.  Not sure about the cost of camping, will update once I've been in touch with Scoutscroft.  Everything is "pay-as-you-go" so there is no need to part with money up front.

Prerequisites:

None.  Just let me know if you are coming!
