HMS Scylla, UK's First Artificial Reef

It was a corking trip... read about it here.

Well, the Artificial Reef Consortium, the National Marine Aquarium and the Canadian chaps with the shaped charges appear to have done a sterling job resulting in 113m of Leander class frigate in twenty-something metres of seawater for the pleasure of those who are sub-aquatically minded.  Nice one!

Dates:

8th and 9th of May 2004.

Diving:

There will be four dives over two days, at least two will be on HMS Scylla - I quite fancy the James Eagan Layne as its so "famous"!  Diving will be from Deep Blue's RIBs (there don't appear to be any hardboats available...)

Cost:  

The cost will be £70 for four dives over two days.    That doesn't cover beer, food accommodation or any of that kind of stuff.  Incidentally given the short timescale and the popularity of the site at the moment it would be impossible for me to arrange the collection of monies and so forth without paying the whole lot up front.  Ergo booking will be direct with Deep Blue - email me for details on the address at the bottom of the page...

Prerequisites: 

The dives are going to be shallower than 30m so experienced PADI AOW or equivalent will be just fine.

Accommodation:

I am reliably informed that the Mountbatten Centre is the place to stay given that it is also home to Deep Blue and has pubs, cafes and restaurants in the vicinity.  Rooms look pretty basic and will do the job just nicely!
